Job Description
Title: Head Teacher
Department: Children Services
Reports to: Director of Children Services
Requirements
- Have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
- Must possess a genuine passion for caring for children, as well as a strong set of communication and interpersonal skills. We are seeking positive parent-teacher communicator who is interested in a sense of ownership over curriculum and the center's culture
- Must be in good physical and mental health and have the energy and emotional stability necessary to fulfill the responsibilities
- Ability to pass a background check, fingerprint clearance, drug test and an annual physical examination
Duties
- Assists with carrying program of self-initiated, group-initiated and staff initiated activities which are intellectually stimulating and foster self-reliance and social responsibility in accordance with National Association of Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
- Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child. Assist in learning what is known about each child as an individual and how best to adapt and be responsive to that individual variation.
- Help set up the classroom, planning the curriculum, aiming use of various teaching strategies, help assessing children, interacting with them, and working with the mothers of Greenhope.
- Assisting with decision-making must be flexible to accommodate the needs of each child and moreover translated into high-quality experiences for children and their mothers.
- Help to enhance development and learning for children and mothers by contributing to curriculum planning. Each child must be appropriately assessed and reciprocal relationships must be established and maintained with families and staff of Greenhope.
- Maintain rooms and play areas in clean, orderly and safe conditions.
- Complete Incident reports as needed.
- Must aid with comforting children who struggle with separation, attachment and/or abandonment issues and be able to communicate with the Head Teacher about what is needed for that child to feel safe and secure.
- Daily observations must be recorded of children's behavior and activities.
- Reports of progress must be communicated to the Head Teacher on a daily.
- Accurate attendance records must be maintained and confidentiality is enforced at all times.
- Children are to be monitored for signs of child abuse or maltreatment and reports of incidents must be given to the appropriate authorities.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
